5 Things Successful People NEVER Say

If you own a dental practice, you are a business owner, and if you want to run a successful dental business – you have to become a great leader.

In today’s competitive and demanding dental industry, what differentiates a prosperous practice and an unsuccessful practice is the leadership. Thankfully, great leaders can be developed, and with a great team on their side, they can establish exceptional and highly profitable dentistry.

Truly successful people do not waste their time and energy on negative thoughts – they are aware that self-limiting beliefs keep them from success. They also know that excuses are simply stories that will not solve problems in a meaningful way.

Here are 5 things that you will never hear from a successful business leader:

1. I Can’t Do It

Instead of “I can’t do it”, or “I’m not capable of doing it”, developing a new belief system of “I can,” even when we feel like we can’t, leads to learning to believe that we can do anything we set our mind to.

Successful people don’t view the world with limiting beliefs, they look for how something can be done or overcome by any possible set of abilities or resources.

2. I Don’t Have Enough Knowledge

It’s natural that at times we may feel that we lack the knowledge or expertise to succeed. True leaders don’t let this scarcity mentality dictate their success – they work through their self-doubt and focus on what they want to achieve.

Successful people understand that learning is a lifelong process, and that there’s always going to be an instance when they don’t have enough knowing. Instead of saying: “I don’t know how,” they may say: “I’ll figure it out”.

3. I Don’t Have Enough Funds to Do It

It’s also natural that at times we may feel that we lack the resources to further develop our business. Again, true leaders don’t let this scarcity mentality dictate their success – they work through their self-doubt and focus on what they want to achieve.

Successful people possess a growth mindset, they plan ahead, so that they have sufficient funds for progress, or they seek creative ways to achieve the same results for less money, or set goals to reach milestones that will earn them more funding.

4. I Don’t Have Enough Time

Successful people don’t have time, they make time. If something is truly important, they find creative ways to free up their calendar, and part of it is knowing how to effectively delegate.

Instead of saying: “I don’t have time”, consider: “Let’s see how I can make some time”.

A lack of time is often a big excuse for not learning, and successful people understand the immense value of learning and know that knowledge is directly correlated to success.

5. Company Culture Is Not That Important

Company culture has become even more important as the modern workplace continues to evolve. Successful business owners know that their company’s culture is and can be a great determiner of their success.

A dental practice has many practices they are competing with, both in terms of appealing to patients and in terms of hiring and retaining people. Great practices nurture a culture that supports their mission and strong set of values and fosters a culture that lifts employees to excellence.

A successful leader always finds ways to create, sustain and improve his/her company’s culture.
